Food Adventure Cooking Camp

Food Adventures Cooking Camp encourages discovery, creativity, and teamwork in a way that is super easy, healthy, and always an adventure!” A culinary experience for children and teens who are passionate, creative, unique individuals who love food and have a desire to cook. 

The Art of Grilling

Ages 12 years old and older who understand how to measure, add ingredients together, and can read the recipe. The Art of Grilling Cooking Camp focuses on Grilling methods and techniques.

Objectives:

  • How to operate a grill.
  • How to cook a full meal.
  • Plan for meals.
  • Measuring and Recipes conversions.
  • Safe handling of raw meats.
  • How safely cook poultry, red meat, pork, and seafood to the right temperature.

Day 1:

Homemade Grass Feed Burgers

Grilled Corn on the Cob

Day 2:

Breakfast Cookery

Kids ages 8-12-year-olds get a more hands-on experience at this stage, and with help, they can accomplish a lot in the kitchen. Cooking Camp, students will learn the elements of Breakfast Cookery, kitchen safety, food safety, basic nutrition, cooking methods, and techniques.

Kids ages 6 to 9 years old learn about cooking by watching, feeling, smelling, tasting and hands-on experiences. Cooking Camp teaches kids kitchen safety, helping in the kitchen, adding ingredients, practice measuring, spreading, pouring, peeling, tearing, tossing, and stirring.

Principles of Baking Camp

To be successful at Baking, it's important to have a basic understanding of how baking ingredients function and how they react to each other. Food Adventures Baking Camp teaches students the knowledge of the principles and processes of baking; that results in students with the ability to follow and create their baking recipes.

Baking Camp Objectives:

  • Functions and preparations of Baking ingredients.
  • Understanding leavening when baking.
  • Difference between the three leavening methods in baking and applying them to Muffins and Scones.
  • The 6 Baking Methods and techniques for mixing or combining batters and dough.
  • Lean and Enriched Dough.
  • Instant yeast used in vs Living yeast bread.

Day 1 & Day 2:  Baking Ingredients Leavening Methods 

  • Whipped Cream 
  • Whipping Egg Whites & Making Meringues
  • Quick Bread
  • Muffins
  • Scones 

Day 3 & Day 4:  Baking Methods and Techniques for mixing or combining batters and dough.

  • Bread with dry yeast
  • Sourdough Bread
